Basic protocol
1. Please dress properly: No shorts (doesn’t look good on boys), nice (tied) shoes with socks, NO gum
2. Girls tie your hair back and keep make up and jewelry simple and not distracting!
3. No talking or chit chatting. If training, you may only QUIETLY whisper advice only as needed. Be discrete. You can be seen.
4. Keep hands together when not holding something , thumbs crossed . Pay attention to the Priest and the Altar. Bow when crossing in front of the Altar. Remember if you are acting inappropriately, you become a distraction to others. Parishioners do comment!
5. Follow along with the Mass, sing, pray and respond. Remember the video that Fr. Robert made. Be proud to be a server!!
This ministry brings the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to the Congregation. Service is required usually once each week for Masses and/or six times each year for home visits to the sick. Baptized and Confirmed parishioners of mature age are eligible to serve. They should be persons who sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their communal and individual lives, and faithfully participate in the Sunday Eucharist.
Those who proclaim God's word in the liturgy are known as Ministers of the Word or Lectors. Answering the call to become a lector enters one into a deeper relationship with God as He is revealed in sacred scripture. Lectors will prepare and proclaim God's Word for assigned liturgies, including the General Intercessions and announcements. Lector’s are required to keep up with current lector guidelines, and continuously work to improve their speaking and presentation skills. The time commitment includes two Masses per month plus preparation time. Lectors are always a need.
Ministry committed to one hour of adoration of our Lord in the Eucharist
St. Therese continues the centuries-old practice of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at St. Therese has been available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since January, 1988; except for certain holidays. Adorers may commit to one hour each week. Volunteers are needed to assist with scheduling and communicating with other adorers.
